Since then the A-10 has delivered capabilities to battlefield commanders in the Balkans (1990s), Afghanistan (2001 onwards) and the second Gulf War (2003 onwards), and Libya (2011). A-10s have flown around 11 per cent of Operation Inherent Resolve sorties (striking IS targets in Iraq) since combat operations began in August 2014.

About as far from the hentai cliches as you can imagine

Tentacle erotica - it's amazing how much power two little words (just seven syllables) can hold over our imaginations, immediately and indelibly painting a picture so vivid, we can almost feel the flexible appendages creeping slowly up our legs. Originating in Japan, it's been a long-standing fixture of hentai (erotic cartoons and graphic novels) there for more than twenty years, but has only recently begun to creep (pun intended) out of the realm of Cthulhu-inspired horror and into Western erotica.

While it's not a fetish I would have ever imagined reading, two things demanded I give the taboos of All Wrapped Up a chance - it's from Storm Moon Press (I always love their work), and it's edited by Elizabeth Hyder (who proved adept at handling reptilian erotica with Trust Me). Having said that, I still went into the anthology expecting to read about lonely astronauts or barbarian heroes being attacked, raped, and mind-controlled by sexually voracious tentacles. Much to my surprise, the stories here are as far from the hentai cliche as you can imagine. They are, instead, stories of men in love (or lust) who just happen to encounter some tentacle invaders that, invariably, spice things up.

Laylah Hunter's Ground Mission kicks things off with a tale of two genetically engineered, technologically augmented soldiers, sent on a reconnaissance mission to discover the fate of the vanished human colony. It's a rather chilling surprise when the tentacles begin emerging from Simon's back, but the way in which the scene develops, with Adrian reluctantly succumbing to their touch in order to prove his love for Simon is rather stunning - both erotic and romantic.

Thea Hayworth switches genres on us with Wildwood, offering up a fantasy tale of a forest ranger tasked with patrolling a land abandoned by its guardian spirit and allowed to run wild. Except, as it turns out, the spirit hasn't really abandoned its duties, and it needs Koster's help. Altogether wondrous, it quite delighted me with its take on tentacles.

Shifting into the realm of dark fantasy (bordering on horror), Gryvon gives us Dark Covenant. If there was a story in the collection to make me feel uncomfortable, then this is it . . . although the fault lies solely with mankind. A story of magic, fine-print contracts, and betrayals of trust, it begins with a young man reluctantly agreeing to be raped on a regular basis by the authorities at the strange school in which he has enrolled.

Morgan Harcourt's Situation Normal brings the anthology full-circle, both in terms of genre and theme. Our hero here is a down-on-his-luck young man named Sebastian, who ends up having his ship commandeered by a reptilian peace officer. In a homoerotic twist on the old buddy-cop action-comedy genre (set in space, of course), Sebastian and Ten start by antagonizing one another at every opportunity, complete with witty/sarcastic banter, but eventually succumb to their sexual tentacle-bondage erotica desires.

Overall, another strong collection from Storm Moon Press, taking the tentacle taboos in directions I had not anticipated and providing some solid storytelling at the same time. I'll definitely be looking for more from Thea Hayworth, and should Morgan Harcourt ever delve back into the story of Ten, count me in!

Surprisingly Good

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this. Not what I was expecting with any of the stories. I had read somewhere that most testicle erotica is about non-con or rape. This is NOT one of those and the reason why I took a chance on it. Everyone one of these short stories I would read in novel length. I wanted more from each one and didn't want them to story to stop.

Ground Mission by Laylah Hunter 4.5 stars - Sci-Fi - Adrian and his pod mate Simon are sent down to a planet to find out what happened to the human population. It didn't go where I thought it would, both times, and Simon...Adrian and I were on the same page with Simon.

Wildwood by Thea Hayworth 5 Stars - Fantasy - I think I might gush about this one because this was my favorite. The world was rich and engaging. Koster and Irsing, I loved them both. I wanted more of these two and this world. Gah! Loved it!

Dark Covenant by Gryvon 4.5 Stars - Fantasy - There is so much more story to tell from this. It's dark and gritty and I could have strangled Eli. He was wise and naive at the same time. He made so many sacrifices and I kept wondering when would it be enough. This is a HFN as it should have been. Give me more Gryvon! (Dubious consent but by the other humans in the story)

Situation Normal by Morgan Harcourt 5 stars - Sci-Fi - Hands down, the best sex scene. My eyes were like saucers. They were all good and kept me glued to the page. But with this one, the Sci-fi, the kink on top of kink, the banter between the MCs cracked me up and just marked all my check boxes. And then the ending! Gah! I wanted MORE.

Tentacles aren't my thing, per se, but this anthology was hot! It's a wonderful mix of plot and tentacle sexiness, where the naughtiness may involve the squirming bits, but it's not the focus of the entire story. A fantastic collection, especially for readers who are fond of this specialty. It has a little bit of sci-fi and a little bit of fantasy, providing a range of genres for readers.

A sci-fi story that originally didn't interest me, but when I returned to it and finished it, I thoroughly enjoyed what it had to offer. The beginning, which is necessary to set the tone of the book, was more focused on the sci-fi than anything, which left me very blase about the story being told. However, as the plot progresses it gets good and really builds the bond between the two men. I ended up enjoying this more than I was expecting and it was a great start to the anthology.

I loved this story from beginning to end. Of course, it had a slight advantage over the sci-fi story because fantasy stories are my thing. There was beautiful descriptions, a plot that was edgy yet simple, and a conclusion that was both sweet and heartbreaking. My only mark against this one would be that it ends on a slightly bitter note, but even that was realistic enough that I had to forgive the author because it was true to the story's tone.

I enjoyed the plot and world building in this story, but I wanted so much more. This really felt like the first few chapters of a novella (at least!). There are so many places this can go and there are a number of questions left unanswered. Overall it was enjoyable, and while the end was satisfactory in some ways, it also left me feeling like the tale was not yet finished being told.

The writing in this story was the weakest of the bunch, but still enjoyable. I'm pretty sure I could read about these two characters in a hundred different short stories and not be bored. It was fun and almost silly, but also intense, both in action and the sex. The characters come off as 2-D initially, but the last scene gives more depth to Ten and the struggle scene gives more depth to Red, enabling the characters to grow in their relationship together. It was a pleasant way to end the anthology.

Things are getting good!

OMG...WTH...you left me hangin'!!!!
I...what...I just can't even with this...I need the rest of this story!

I am really liking what this story is weaving into, and I can't wait to read the rest. I'm not fond of Selene and I hope Lucien or better yet Delilah kicks her butt cause she really deserves it after what she did...or does. We also learn a little more about Lucien in this one as to what his powers are...though we still don't know exactly what he is yet.

Great series so far, and really different than anything I have been reading recently, and if you like short novellas and paranormal romance with a little bit of suspense then you may really like this series.

I am so taken with this story. It is unlike any other. It is beautifully written and you won't be able to put it down.
This novella starts up where the first one ends, with Dahlia not being able to stay away from Lucien. He has some sort of power over her. They are back together and hotter than ever! I mean the pages sizzle!!
Lucien's cousin Selene comes to town and she is not happy with him being with Dahlia.
What happens then is mindblowing!
This novella has all the feels you want in a great read. It is mysterious, magical, hot, and has some great twists! Definitely a must read series!!

Unveiled is volume 2 of the Laid Bare series and this story only gets better. Lucien and Dahlia can’t seem to stay away from each other, so they don’t! Lucien starts to open up more about his family and his power and Dahlia is receptive to what he’s telling her, but not everything works out well. We are introduced to Lucien’s cousin Selene and she is a whole lot of trouble, and I mean TROUBLE!

This story captures your attention and leaves you begging for more! Can’t wait for the next part!

seriously overpriced

Toby Wilkinson, a well-respected young British Egyptologist, has gathered together all known published information about the Palermo Stone and 6 other associated fragments and added a little of his own. The resulting text is spread thinly over some 300 pages including 12 line-drawings.
I was disappointed that such an expensive volume did not even have any photographs of the objects being described. At £20 this book would be reasonable value but at £150 it is an unnecessary extravagance. I'm glad that I borrowed a copy from the British Library rather than buying it.
In contrast, Toby Wilkinson's "Early Dynastic Egypt" is a valuable and not outrageously priced work that should be on the shelves of every Egyptologist with interests in that period.

Finally a serious and complete study

This is the book that many Egyptologists and people interested in the early history of Ancient Egypt have been waiting for!
Wilkinson has collected all known fragments of the so-called "Annalenstein", from the well-known Palermo Stone to the smallest fragment. Despite their many lacunes, these fragments provide historians with a wealth of information about the early kings of Ancient Egypt. The fragments are divided into cells, each of which representing a year in the calendar and listing some important event, such as the death of a king or an important ritual.
Now that all pieces have been brought together, Egyptologists finally have a complete overview of the remains of this important historical document.

Only buy if you want a hard copy.

Nice book, but these codes are freely available online. Go to codes.iccsafe.org, click the I-Codes button below the map of the USA, then scroll down to where it says 2015 International Residential Code. Click the book cover and this book, in its entirety, is there. Codes from previous years are also available on the same website. Given the price of this book, unless you have a reason to specifically have a copy in paper format, then I don't think it's worth it. Also, these codes get updated every 3 years, so it won't be long until it's out of date.

Travis Barker is a musician, producer, and entrepreneur who rose to fame as the drummer for the influential punk-rock band Blink-182. Travis Barker provides a revealing, frank and inspiring look into a life defined by perseverance, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to both the mastery of one's craft and to one's family and friends.
I work at a bookstore and was shelving yesterday morning when I noticed the arrival of Travis Barker's autobiography. Having been a fan of his music for well over half my life, I decided to grab a copy for myself. After cracking it open at 11 pm, I didn't stop reading until I finished the book around 6 am. I couldn't put it down! He really opens himself, offering a very revealing look into his past, present and future. There doesn't seem to be any holding back either. He talks frankly about his most difficult and darkest times; whether it was love, loss, addiction, or fear. Ultimately, this is really a story about commitment, perseverance, and dedication. It's truly an inspiring read.

Good read for fans

This is a good read. Very interesting! His life with Shanna combined with the Hollywood Rockstar formula is an extremely interesting take on celebrity love and marriages. Obviously any blink fan will eat this up, but they will learn that Travis is a go-getter, a talented musician who has collaborated his way to the top. He doesn't take setbacks too seriously but loves his family with emotional depth. His plane crash shook him up, but rightfully so. It really put me in his shoes on how horrific it really was. This guy is a true go-getter and has worked for everything he has gotten.

It's a really dope book from a really dope person who also happens to be really hot.

I bought Travis Barker's "Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death, and Drums, Drums, Drums" a few weeks ago and was so excited to bring it home from the book store. The book jacket is so striking, but I've gotten in the habit of removing the jackets on hardback books. I took the jacket off and was like, "Damn. Even the spine is dope."

I've had a crush on Travis for quite some time, so reading this book was like a reintroduction and more. I'm always drawn to passionate people, then I end up researching and finding out cool things I never would have known simply by enjoying their art (or their faces). I have a soft spot for "artistic intellectuals" and "soft cores with rough edges" and Travis fits snuggly into both categories.

This book was cool for me because it had so much heart and vulnerability and inspired me to take a break from reading to look up a lot of the songs and music videos that are referenced. Just this morning, I was driving to work bumpin' "Can A Drummer Get Some".

The more I read, the more I felt connected to Travis, so I added part of the book jacket to my "Bliss Book" that I carry around with me for motivation and inspiration.

Yesterday, from about 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., I sat on the couch reading the book and watching music videos between reading. I felt like when I was reading "The Da Vinci Code" and would stop to look up images and fact-check. I love an experience that causes me to dig deeper and learn more.

All in all, the book was easy to digest with the way that it's written. I'm almost sad that I finished it because there's nothing left to read from Travis' perspective.

This book has inspired me in a lot of ways. Travis' work ethic really shines through and he touches on key life practices---like maintaining your physical-mental health balance---that is right on time for me.

It's a really dope book from a really dope person who also happens to be really hot.

While oftentimes a book's jacket description exaggerates to the point that it makes the story seem like it's more than it really is, the description of Emory's Gift "hits the nail right on the head." It is a book that is very touching, emotional, heartwarming and, at times, bittersweet. But at all times, it is a very well-written and memorable story that will likely stay with readers (or at least this reader) for a long time to come.

The plot (which takes about 80-90 to really get involved in, which resulted in my deducting 1/2 star from my rating) is this: After thirteen-year old Charlie Hall's mother dies and his father retreats into the silence of grief, Charlie finds himself drifting, lost and alone, through the brutal halls of junior high school. But Charlie is not entirely friendless. In the woods behind his house in a small town in Idaho, he is saved from a mountain lion by a grizzly bear, a species thought to be extinct in his area. This very unusal bear will change Charlie's life forever.

Emory's Gift is not only a charming coming-of-age story, it is also a page-turning, insightful look at how faith, trust and unconditional love can heal a broken family and bridge the gaps that divide us.

I should point out that Emory's Gift, by W. Bruce Cameron, is not the type of book I usually read, being largely a fan of thrillers, mysteries and suspense books. However, Cameron has turned me into a fan and I plan to read his previous bestselling book, A Dog's Purpose, very soon.

A Must Read!

I am a great fan of Bruce Cameron; he has made me laugh for years, and after reading A Dog's Purpose (another fantastic book that I buy as gifts for friends and family), I knew that Emory's Gift would be another block buster. I was right! This book reminded me what it was like to be a junior high student, feeling lost and alone in a big, uncharted territory. Though I didn't lose my mother at a tender age as the narrator of the book had, I could feel every bit of his angst and insecurity. Mr. Cameron writes so that you can hear the characters' voices, the tone, the hurt, the happiness. What a wonderful gift Mr. Cameron has, to bring us to the end of every emotional nerve; he writes books that make one truly feel and contemplate the world as it is -- good and bad. I started this book Friday morning and finished it Friday evening. I can't wait to start reading it again!

Been There, Done That

After cruising in Belgium and France, l can relate to some of the stress and anxiety felt by being strangers to the commercial waterways of Europe. Competing with commercial barges in some of the narrow canals can be daunting for first time travellers especially when you don't know what is around the next bend. Having a 1600 ton barge pulling at you and taking your water when it passes can be quite frightening. We were warned about the Russians etc., but in Brussels not Charleroi . The book is well written and quite readable. I will be looking forward to Stephanies and Ric's next adventure.

A Fun Read that Puts you in the Middle of a Barging Adventure

Finally a great barging book; we meet Stephanie and Ric Kalesh and from the first page you know you’d like to have them as traveling companions. We see barging through the eyes of people new to it and see some of the unvarnished day-to-day living – and it’s fun. The boat is the other great character and somehow it all just comes out in a great, easy, fun read. It is indeed the perfect adventure for baby boomers and many others as well.
