This is a fun little book. Life Hacks contains brief articles arranged topically. There are time saving ideas, health saving ideas (like the clothespin on the front cover which is used to hold the nail so as to not crush one's thumb) and ideas to get the most out of life. Nothing here is overly complicated and nothing here requires anything outside everyday household items. Thus the hacks in the book are practical and useful.

Life Hacks is a great bathroom book, a good coffee table book and would be an excellent book to place in waiting rooms. You will enjoy reading and probably take away at least a couple of hacks to make your life better.

A decent read

I had my eye on this book of stories for a little while now, having followed Ari on Thought Catalog and Twitter. I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend $3 when I can read a ton of her work for free. The stories were decent enough, and are typical Ari Eastman. All in all, I guess I'm happy to have supported her in this small way.

Karen Tei Yamashita is the author of Through the Arc of the Rain Forest, Brazil-Maru, Circle K Cycles, I Hotel, and Anime Wong, all published by Coffee House Press. I Hotel was selected as a finalist for the National Book Award and awarded the California Book Award, the American Book Award, the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association Award, and the Association for Asian American Studies Book Award. She has been a US Artists Ford Foundation Fellow and is currently Professor of Literature and Creative Writing and the co-holder of the University of California Presidential Chair for Feminist & Critical Race & Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz.

A brilliant novel about people and work in America, about immigrants and people whose families have been Americans for generations. About varieties of angels and how they rise. About what gets imported into the USA in addition to commodities and workers with their able, whole bodies. It's about the nature of homes, inhabiting, and keeping them--or not. This novel is very much about Los Angeles and very much about being American.

It was an okay read. Was recommended to read this from a co worker, but felt short in my expectations. The book setting is in LA and has some memorable chapters but over all it's just okay.

A detailed Telling of Ariel Castro and the Violence He Committed Before and During His Most Notorious Crime.

It gives a much wider picture of the whole case, giving us a very detailed background on Ariel Castro and the violence he committed before and during his most notorious crime. It gives the perspective of many people connected to the case, including Castro's family, his neighbors, the victim's families, the police, the prosecution, and the defense. While it does not have the in-depth first-person perspective provided by Michelle Knight, it does provide a better timeline concerning the case as a whole. I would recommend both this and Michelle Knight's book.

I think Mr. Glatt did a very good job collecting data and interviewing people and it results in a very interesting book. I have read Michelle Knight's book, but he had additional information and wrapped it up in a neat package. Congrats....keep up the good work...

An almost unbelieveable story

The Lost Girls is the story of Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus, who were kidnapped by Ariel Castro in Cleveland, Ohio, and kept captive in his home for 11 years, 10 years and 9 years, respectively. I had just seen a Lifetime movie about the same events a week before, so I was eager to read this book. It is extremely well-written and well-researched, and reads like a novel. I read it in a little over a day. What Castro did to these girls during their captivity is horrific and almost unbelievable. He didn’t let them bathe, use a toilet (used a bucket and rarely emptied it), starved them, beat them, sexually assaulted them multiple times a day, aborted 5 pregnancies Michelle had, chained them, put them in a hot attic in the summer and in a cold basement in the winter, and often wouldn’t let them even wear clothes. Their mattresses were old, stained and infested with bedbugs. It goes on and on. And the fact that he did it while basically living a “normal” life, living in a neighborhood, and having people over to his house (granted, he never let them go past the living room and it wasn’t often), is incredible. And the abuse his family endured prior to this (his cruelty to his common-law wife was torture), was terrible, too. I only wish his wife had pressed charges so maybe the kidnappings would never have happened at all. I wish he hadn’t hung himself in prison and had “lived” out the remainder of his years in prison. He didn’t even last a month under conditions better than those he subjected his victims too. If you want to read a complete version of the story, I highly recommend this book. The triumph of the human spirit in the face of such adversity is a testament to the bravery and courage and faith of the victims.

About the Author
Xavier Pastor is one of Spain's leading maritime historians. He has spent many years gathering material on the coastal working craft of Spain, and is a fine modelmaker and draughtsman. He has produced numerous plans of Spanish small craft, and has been a regular contributor to Model Shipwright and other nautical journals. Widely recognised as an authority on the 15th century Mataro nao, he was closely involved with the Spanish reconstruction of the ships of Columbus for the 500th anniversary of the European discovery of America.

Fast-paced addictive and very humerous. The mystery plot is exceptional. I have read a lot of these and this storyline is defenitly a cut above the rest.

This novel has NYT best seller quality

As an avid fiction reader, I am beyond impressed with the level of writing and storytelling in this novel. I find the genre of lesbian fiction typically lacking in plot and complexity but The Red Files stands alone. This novel has NYT best seller quality. The lead characters have several levels of depth and backstory that defines their current actions and responses, and the supporting cast is equally interesting. The plot is fascinating, and depicts a real life scenario that could potentially be taking place right now under our noses without anybody really putting any focus on it. I hope this is the first of many novels from this author, as I was lost in her pages and didn't want to come back out. Such a fun read.

Heard about it, bought it and read it. It feels like when you drink really good coffee and you finish it up too soon but you still have that amazing taste after. Still processing it, but I can say that I really like it and I hope it becomes a saga, it definitely checks all the boxes for one. The heroines, the writing style, the subject and the subtle (or maybe not so subtle) hint of a cliffhanger. Winter makes sure to keep you on edge during the whole read, it's an interesting and exciting mystery story with likable and relatable characters. Even though the romantic part of it is a bit predictable (as it is in any similar book i.e Bourne-Marie) it never feels forced or trite. The only negative I see here is the art cover, I really hope they change it to something better on a 2nd edition. Also Hollywood should start looking at this as a potential film, it's time the world sees heroines on summer blockbusters.
