Must have if you want a better voice.

Super cool book! I had my tonsils taken out as a kid, and the operation made my voice really high pitched. I'm 36 now and my voice, up until I read this book, sounded still slightly high pitched, in a way I sounded like a teenager. Talking always made my throat feel stressed and strained. This book helped me talk correctly and now my voice is more rounded. One of the best things about this book is that all of the voice exercises are explained right in the beginning of the book, seriously everything written past chapter 2 is just stories of who this doctor treated, such as celebrities and whoever. So technically you don'l have to read the entire book. And not only that, the exercises work almost immediately. After about 2 weeks of practicing my voice was sounding really good, and now I just do the exercises a couple times a week, where as I was doing them 2-3 times a day. The exercises only take 2-3 minutes to do as well. I wish I had this book years ago!!!

You should read this book! Dr. Cooper really knows what he is talking about. If you listen to the speaking voices around you these days, you will recognize how his ideas are needed.

mmm hmmm, no, go, really, do, my name is alan

That is the key exercise I remember from this book. Along with a few pointers on where my voice should be coming from and at which speed. It's been about 4 years since I read it, in fact I don't even know where my copy went and I can effectively remember the gist of the book by memory.
I bought it after I went to a job interview and flopped. I noticed that what I was saying was right, but the people interviewing me weren't interested. It was almost like I was putting them to sleep. I realized that in a lot of other aspects of life- love, personal, professional and socially my voice was failing me. This book was very helpful in that it taught me how to use my voice correctly. It has the perfect amount of resonance, tone, pitch, and I use it naturally now without straining. I am no longer afraid to speak and from time to time I record myself reading and I really like the way I naturally sound. It's done wonders for my confidence. Try it.
